Copycat KFC Potatoes With Gravy
- 4 large russet potatoes
- 1½ salt
- 1 teaspoon dry chicken seasoning
- Butter, as needed
- Milk, warmed, as needed
- ½ cup oil
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ½ to 1 cup chicken broth, as needed
- Potatoes: Peel and cut potatoes in half or quartered. Place water in pot and add salt and dry chicken seasoning. Place potatoes in pot and bring to a boil. Cook about 10 minutes or until for tender. Drain and place in a big mixing bowl.
Add about ½ cup warm milk and a slice of butter to potatoes. Season with salt and mash potatoes until nice and creamy.
- Gravy: In a medium sauce pan add oil and let heat 2 to 3 minutes. Next add small amounts of flour at a time and whisk carefully. Once first batch is dissolved add more flour and continue until all the flour is used.
Add small amounts of chicken stock to flour mixture and whisk continually, keep adding stock until all used up. Gravy should be dark in color.
